A team of students from the Hawk Center for Investment Analysis at the Wisconsin School of Business has won the local competition of the CFA Institute Research Challenge. The challenge is an annual global contest where students compete on university-sponsored teams to research a publicly traded company, write a research report and ultimately present their research to a panel of judges. This year's team competed on February 21 at the local competition sponsored by the CFA Society of Milwaukee and presented their research on Exact Sciences.
The local competition is only the first step for the team, as they now advance to the Americas Regional in New York on April 23-24. Teams that advance from the Americas Regional will then compete in the Global Final on April 25 in New York.
Members of this year’s winning team included Steve Heron, Patrick Sweeney, Megan Martin, Michael Orke and Nicholas Roby.
Each team also has a Faculty Advisor and Industry Mentor. David Anders, who is an alumnus of the Hawk Center's Applied Security Analysis Program (ASAP) served as the team's Industry Mentor. Greg Schroeder, who is an instructor for ASAP and also an alumnus of the program served as the Faculty Advisor.
