First-year MBA students from Applied Security Analysis and Corporate Finance and Investment Banking competed against 41 other teams from North and South America in the CFA’s Global Investment Research Challenge in Omaha, Neb. in early April.
While March Madness may be over, the Wisconsin MBAs earned their spot in the final four and competed for a chance to advance to the Global finals where they were pitted against the winning teams from other regions in the US. Their impressive performance after several rounds of competition is a testament to the student’s hard work and dedication. The students had qualified for this competition by winning the local competition sponsored by the CFA Society of Madison earlier this year. A team from the University of Southern California was the ultimate winner of the Americas Regional competition and advanced to the Global Finale against schools from Asia and Europe.
The conference also features case competitions, prominent speakers such as Warren Buffet and great opportunities for the students to network with portfolio managers and analysts from all over the country.
