As I mentioned in my previous blog post, the Wisconsin MBA application will feature new essays for the Class of 2019 application. This was born both out of applicants’ wish to tell the admissions committee more about themselves, and our desire to know more about what has shaped you as a person. We hope to learn more about your unique narrative through providing more opportunities to share your story.
Here are the new essay questions:

Understanding why you’ve chosen your career specialization and, more importantly, how you know this is the right fit for you. We look forward to learning how you will use the Wisconsin MBA to catapult your career forward.

You have the option to complete one
of the recommended essays. Please make sure you indicate which essay question you will be answering.
We created these essay questions to better understand what motivates you to pursue graduate management education. These essay questions, along with the by-invitation-only interview, help us measure the intangible aspects of an applicant. How will this person work on a team? Do they know when to lead and when to play a supporting role? What unique perspectives will they bring to the classroom? The recommended essay questions allow the admissions committee a peek into your personality, and help us round out your qualifications as a potential MBA candidate.
The Optional Essay Question
Please use this optional essay to communicate additional information about yourself that is not represented in the application you feel would benefit the admissions committee.
Applicants can utilize this space to share any additional information with the admissions committee. Oftentimes, applicants have addressed lower GMAT scores, gaps in employment, or poor undergraduate academic performance through this essay question.
For those of you looking to apply in the fall, I hope this helps give you a jump start on compiling your application materials. The application for the Class of 2019 will be available starting September 2016. To view the rest of our application requirements, please see our website here.
