Marketing Professor Appears in Discovery Series

Tom O’Guinn, professor of marketing at the Wisconsin School of Business, appears in a new Discovery series about groundbreaking American business leaders called How We Got Here.

The show, which airs on Discovery’s American Heroes channel, profiles prominent entrepreneurs and explores how their business practices, products, and innovative ideas created the foundation upon which American business stands today.

O’Guinn will appear in three more episodes of the 12-part series following his Jan. 20 appearance in a segment about gun manufacturer Samuel Colt. The remaining episodes will focus on brewer Adolphus Busch, oil giant John D. Rockefeller, and motorcycle king Harley Davidson.

Initially, O’Guinn was invited to participate in the research because of his pioneering research on brand communities, which included the Harley Davidson. Once the producers of the show recognized his knowledge base, however, he was invited to speak on several other topics.

How We Got Here airs Tuesdays at 9 p.m. CST. The upcoming episodes featuring O’Guinn will air on Feb. 24, March 3, and March 17. Learn more about the series
