The Associated Press (AP) recently published an article on the volatility of starting a small business and the role of Project Enterprise, a community financing group based out of New York, in helping individuals grow their businesses.

The article, “How taking a small business risk creates rewards,” references research on the relationship between entrepreneurship and personal consumption habits by Sarada, assistant professor in the Management and Human Resources Department at the Wisconsin School of Business.

Sarada’s research, which focuses on the financial incentives individuals face when looking to start a business, found that self-employment increases household consumption by eight percent over a 10-year period.
