The Streets of Hong Kong

by Palmer Mathews Wednesday, March 25, 2015

In Hong Kong, the streets buzz with activity – constantly.  From food vendors, to street performers, to construction workers, there is always something to see.  As a Madisonian I was initially overwhelmed.  The lights, sounds, smells, and sheer number of people were a lot to take in.  It made Madison seem so small and tranquil in comparison.  But once I was able to recognize that there is still order amongst the frenzy, I immediately felt more at home.  There’s a certain sense of comfort to coexisting in this bustling metropolis.  It’s pretty cool to sit back and sense that there are 7 million people around you, all sharing the same city, all with places to be, things to do, people to see.  With this realization I’ve learned to appreciate Hong Kong more and more every day.

Below are the streets of Hong Kong:

Shek Kip Mei 石硤尾

Cheung Sha Wan 長沙灣
