Arek Schmocker received Jon G. & Susan S. Udell Scholarship in Entrepreneurship Award

First year MBA student Arek Schmocker received the Jon G. & Susan S. Udell Scholarship in Entrepreneurship, which will provide financial support through his last year of study. Jon and Susan created a scholarship awarded for an MBA candidate that has a passion for entrepreneurship and must reside in Wisconsin. Arek grew up in Park Falls, Wisconsin and received his BBA in Finance & Accounting from the University of Oshkosh. No stranger to hard work; Arek was awarded the Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship, FEI Finance Scholarship and the Virchow Krause Accounting Scholarship during his undergrad career. Prior to attending graduate school, Arek worked in the consulting industry and as a Project Controller at Power Solutions International. Arek will start his summer internship with Organic Valley, one of the nation's largest farmer-owned organic cooperatives and one of the world's largest organic consumer brands.

Jacob Smith received Ab Nicholas Award

This year the Nicholas Center created the Ab Nicholas Award in Finance. The recipient, Jacob Smith a non-traditional MBA finance student maintained a stellar academic status and was a significant contributor to the Business & Entrepreneurship Clinic throughout his MBA career. Jacob left his Venture Associate position at a top 10 start-up accelerator to attend our MBA program. A background in venture capital, finance, biochemistry and healthcare, he completed his internship with Lewis & Clark Ventures a leading Midwest series A & B venture capital firm. Jacob worked all through his second year and before graduation was promoted to Principal at 30 Ventures, a Madison-based early stage venture capital firm focused on medical diagnostics, biotechnology tools, medical devices and industrial water and chemistry opportunities in the Midwest.
