There’s No Place Like Home - If You Can Get One: Understanding America’s Housing Shortage

October 1-2, 2020 * Virtual Event

Before the COVID-19 outbreak, a lack of housing supply was the most pressing problem in the housing market. Even in the face of continuing uncertainty, the U.S. continues to face a lattice of continuing demand, tight supply and disciplined financial underwriting. The result? 2020 could prove to be the most challenging year for buyers, not because of what they can afford, but rather what they can find.

What can be done to alleviate the tight supply of housing and make it more available to all potential buyers? Who can buy a home and who can’t? How will the housing finance system evolve to meet the challenges of home ownership now and in the future, and how can government and industry facilitate or impede this evolution? This unique forum will identify, discuss, and provide solutions for a range of affordable, workforce, and new construction single-family challenges limiting housing availability in Wisconsin and throughout United States. Presenters will also delve into the impact of credit availability.
