On Monday, August 21st, the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB) welcomed the MBA class of 2019 to begin their two-week orientation program to familiarize students with campus and prepare them for the next two years. The MBA program as a whole touched on topics such as leadership and personality assessments, academic paths, resources within UW-Madison and the WSB, expectations, and additional opportunities available to students while pursuing their MBA. Students met their core teams, volunteered for local non-profits, and met the faculty and staff they will engage with over the next two years.
The Center took several opportunities to engage our students on a more personal level. The specialization orientation began with a dinner for all first-year students to sit down and get to know each other and enjoy Eno Vino’s spectacular views of the State Capitol. The next day, each student met with Jake and Greg for 1:1 interviews, allowing them to get to know each student’s goals for their MBA education. We continued our orientation with a Center overview, and an alumni activity and networking event. Finally, after classes started and second-year students returned from their internships, all students from the Center gathered for a team-building event on a boat cruise of Lake Monona.
The orientation allowed students to feel connected and engaged with the program even before classes began. This foundation set the students up with the resources and knowledge to begin their successful careers at the Wisconsin School of Business.
