Becoming an alum graduation cap

It was just after midnight on a day two years ago when I found out I had been admitted to the Wisconsin School of Business and the CBPM. That night I texted a friend and future classmate who I had met during recruiting to see if he had received the same good news. I can still recall the excitement and anticipation we felt as we waited for an August that just wouldn’t come soon enough.

It’s now only a few short weeks before graduation. We’re now preparing to leave Madison for our new careers: my friend with Kimberly-Clark and me with The Hershey Company. It’s hard to believe the amount we’ve all accomplished in just two years and how much being part of the CBPM has elevated my life. An education here consists of so much more than lectures, exams and group projects. While I’ve benefited from these aspects of the program, the best moments have come from the ancillary events, programs and activities that come by being a member of the Brand Center. A short list of these MBA highlights include Applied Learnings, board meetings, visiting S.C. Johnson, Kimberly-Clark and General Mills, the GMN Case Competition, the GBA Golf Outing, recruiting, mock-interviewing, and the Brand Center's international trip to India.

More than anything else I’ve done at the Wisconsin School of Business, those Brand Center events and activities have prepared me for my career in brand management – and not one of those events would have happened without participation from our alumni or board members.

On behalf of my fellow classmates, I want to thank you alumni, advisory board members and CBPM staff who continuously and selflessly give of yourselves to help us reach our goals. As we soon will pass from students to alumni we hope to carry the torch that you’ve given us and pass on the benefits we’ve received by being members of this incredible organization.
