Thank you for taking some time to read about the fall semester activities for the A.C. Nielsen Center. We are fortunate to have such a strong community of alumni and industry friends - which you will read about in a few of the student articles.

As the semester wraps up and students head out for the holidays and winter break, I am reminded of the huge amount of activity and growth that happens in the fall semester. Most notably is the second year students returning from their summer internships with a new level of professional maturity, confidence and understanding of business and marketing research. It is extremely rewarding to see students beam ear to ear with stories of their research, findings and recommendations to turn those insights into business action. Thank you to all of the company partners who gave our students such awesome opportunities.

Peter WierengaComing into my MBA education at the Wisconsin School of Business, I had high expectations for the classes I would be taking. Before entering the program, everyone I spoke with told me I would be challenged by the classes and prepared for a career in marketing research. They were absolutely right! My expectations for coursework have been completely met and exceeded. The knowledge of professors and insights brought into classroom by my peers have been outstanding. However, as mentioned, this was largely expected for an MBA program at Wisconsin's level.

In order to get a closer look at how Marketing Research is innovated upon and utilized in the real world, the A.C. Nielsen Center students took a road trip to downtown Chicago to visit Wrigley and SC Johnson. Although our excursion to Chicago began with an early-morning 6:30am bus ride, the zombie-esque atmosphere of the drive was quickly shoved aside as we pulled up to the Wrigley Building.

  • David Shepherd (Class of 2011) is engaged to Melissa Riehl.  They recently purchased a home in Farmington Hills, MI and nuptials are planned for June 2016.
  • Zach Smith (Class of 2015) is engaged to Julia Rubinshteyn.
  • Jenny Ulvestad (Class of 2015) is engaged to Vaibhav Bhatt with a wedding date of February 27th in Jaipur India.
