Peer Advisors

These returned study abroad participants serve as peer advisors and are able to answer your questions about studying abroad through the Wisconsin School of Business.

Gaby Mannion

Gabrielle is a marketing major who studied abroad in Rome, Italy. In addition to being a WSB International Peer Advisor, she is the co-president of ERBN (the Ethical and Responsible Business Network) student organization, a Badger Volunteer, and an intern for Campus and Visitor Relations. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, and being outside. At UW-Madison, she loves spending time at the Terrace, watching Badger Basketball games, and eating Babcock ice cream.

Madison Richards

Madison is a senior studying International Business and Risk Management and Insurance. She spent last year abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina, studying, working as a consulting intern, practicing Spanish, and traveling throughout South America. Excited to be back on campus, Madison is looking forward to Badger game days, Dane County farmers markets, sailing on Lake Mendota, sunsets at the Terrace, and working as an International Programs peer advisor. In her free time, she can be found sipping coffee or eating Babcock ice cream with friends, swimming, practicing yoga, or planning future travels.

Michael Sheehan

Michael is from Saint Charles, IL but decided to migrate north to Wisconsin for college because he fell in love with the city of Madison upon visiting. He is studying Operations and Technology Management and Marketing with specializations in Supply Chain and Healthcare Managements. Michael loves to explore whether it be biking, hiking, or running in brand new places. He enjoys trying and cooking all kinds of food, but also likes to workout to keep the balance :) Michael studied abroad in Oslo, Norway, is excited to be a part of the BBA program as a student employee, and cannot wait to make a difference for future students.

Graduate Student Coordinator

The graduate student coordinator helps incoming exchange students with various tasks including the application and enrollment processes.

Katrina Perito

Katrina is a Master's student in the Professional French Master's Program (PFMP) at UW-Madison. She originally hails from Branford, CT and completed her undergraduate studies at Georgetown, where she studied French and Arabic. She's since spent time living in France and New York City working in the field of cultural exchange. Katrina is an avid competitive swimmer and loves exploring new restaurants. She is particularly excited about UW athletics, and is thrilled to have another great basketball team to root for! After the PFMP, Katrina hopes to work in a position using her language skills daily.

Administration

Our administration works closely with overseas partners. These staff also advise students on study abroad programs, process course equivalencies, and maintain smooth operations of our office.

Joseph Halaas

Joseph Halaas

Mr. Halaas joined the Wisconsin School of Business in 2010 where he manages the undergraduate study abroad and exchange programs for the Wisconsin School of Business. Before coming to the business school, Mr. Halaas worked as an international admissions counselor in the UW-Madison Office of Admissions. He also has experience teaching French and English abroad, and has worked in the private sector as deputy publisher for a business magazine for the autobody industry.

Halaas earned his B.A. in French from Denison University and his masters in French studies with a concentration in international education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As part of his master’s degree, Mr. Halaas worked as a researcher at the Department of Multilingualism and the Centre for Teaching and Researching Foreign Languages at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland.

Sarah Melin

Sarah Melin

Sarah Melin is glad to be a part of the Wisconsin School of Business! She manages a portfolio of study abroad programs in Asia, Europe and South America. Prior to joining International Programs in 2014, she worked in the International Academic Programs office at UW-Madison. She also worked for several years for non-profit organizations in Madison and Sheboygan, WI.

Ms. Melin is an alumna of UW-Madison, earning a B.A. in Psychology, Spanish & a Certificate in Business and an M.S. in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis. During her undergraduate program, she studied abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica. She looks forward to working with business students as they prepare for and participate in their own enriching study abroad experiences!
