Carter AllenApplied Security Analysis

Carter Allen is a 2019 MS candidate in the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Applied Security Analysis Program. In his undergraduate studies, he was a portfolio analyst in Capital Management Club and similarly active in other organizations such as Finance and Investment Society and Future Business Leaders of America. Carter completed his Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Spring of 2018.

This past summer Carter spent his time as an Investment Intern at Geneva Capital Management, a growth equity manager with ~$5 billion of AUM based in Milwaukee, WI. He conducted deep-dive fundamental research on both current holdings and new investment ideas, while co-covering a handful of names over the summer. After his junior year, Carter spent his summer as an Equity Research Intern at Isthmus Partners LLC in Madison, WI. In addition to conducting fundamental research on current holdings and new ideas, he engaged in backtesting efforts to help identify meaningful predictors of alpha in the insurance and REIT industries.

Following his freshman and sophomore year, Carter interned in Finance at the Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation. He built, enhanced, and automated sales and marketing reports within Excel to aid the business’ ERP system transition. Additionally, he conducted analyses on problematic expenses and reported categorized data summaries to the executive finance team.

Carter has a passion for investing and manages his own portfolio. He intends to sit for the CFA Level II exam in June 2019.

In his free time, Carter enjoys traveling, skiing, reading, and being outdoors.
