Andy OrtmanSupply Chain Management

Andy Ortman is enthusiastically changing roles at the University of Wisconsin from business manager in the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies to MBA student in the Grainger Center for Supply Chain Management. He has spent the previous four years in university administration where he managed procurement, research administration, financial accounting and human resources. 

Andy’s interest in Supply Chain Management comes from his engagement with the administrative process improvement community on campus.  Through these relationships, he secured training in Lean Six Sigma that honed his ability to improve processes in his unit. He designed budget development and expenses summary tools for the Nelson Institute’s growing professional programs. He also redesigned and reinforced financial controls within the department, reducing faculty administrative time and effort.  He hopes to use his MBA to lead interdisciplinary process improvement teams with a focus on sustainable growth and efficient solutions.

Andy graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 2010 with a B.A. in Theatre and Drama and Communication Arts. He is passionate about cooking and consuming delicious food and drink, traveling and exercising.
