Arek Schmocker is pursuing his MBA at the University of Wisconsin in the Nicholas Center for Corporate Finance and Investment Banking. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant. He brings a thorough understanding of financial management and six years of new product development experience.

Arek began his career as a staff accountant after obtaining an undergraduate degree in accounting and finance. For three years at a wind turbine start-up company, he was responsible for financial activities and the day-to-day operations of the company. After the start-up was purchased by another energy company, Arek began work at the acquiring company, managing the financial activities of a newly-formed development group. He enjoyed the challenges of new development and seeing new ventures through to the end. Eventually, he was promoted to oversee the financials of all projects across the company and managed investments of $22.5M annually.

Between that position and enrollment in the Nicholas Center, Arek and his fiancée took a nine-month trip around the world, stopping in 12 countries. This once-in-a-lifetime journey included seeing some major events such as the Paralympics in Rio, the Water Festival in Thailand, and Munich’s Oktoberfest. In addition, they participated in long-term volunteer projects--one assignment was at a working in a Zulu village in South Africa, another was teaching English in a Cambodian after-school program.

Arek earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Outside of school and work, he enjoys traveling, playing hockey, volleyball, golf, fishing, and outdoor activities.
