Biography
Bing DuApplied Security Analysis

Bing Du graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas in 2016 with a Master of Science in Accounting and multiple scholarships and awards. Upon graduation, he joined JPMorgan Chase & Co. as a financial analyst on the Consumer Credit Portfolio team, covering the firm’s credit card portfolio (contributes 20% of JPM’s global revenue).  During his two years with JPMorgan Chase & Co., Bing formulated Q&As for investor relations to script for earnings calls, screened potential investment opportunities in existing business, and charted suggestions to the General Management team to better go-to-market strategy and prospective ROI, etc.

Following this role, Bing joined the Proud Stone Group, a boutique private equity firm in China where he used to work before enrolling in the University of Texas at Dallas, as a Corporate Restructuring Associate. He led two analysts to conduct business and financial due diligence on a distressed port company, including modelling myriad restructuring scenarios and interacting with key moving factors/personnel.

He spent this summer in San Francisco working with a reputable investor/entrepreneur to start UPHOLDINGS Group (a global equity fund). As a pre-MBA equity analyst, he contributed multiple long ideas that have generated sizable alphas compared with S&P500 (with an equal weighted alpha of 10.47% during his tenure at UPHOLDINGS Group). He covered technology and software companies among many continents.

To improve his understandings about the overall market, Bing is sitting for CFA Level 3 exam this coming June, and is already a CPA.

External to work, Bing is involved in multiple community services such as a volunteer teacher for hometown high schools, a college and graduate school finance tutor, and a volunteer tax preparer for United Way. In his spare time, Bing enjoys traveling, cooking, reading, and watching movies with his wife. He is thrilled for his MBA journey to begin at the Wisconsin School of Business Hawk Center for Investment Analysis. There he will further sharpen his analytical skills and broaden his expertise as an investor.
