Jared ShoemakerReal Estate and Urban Land Economics

Jared Shoemaker earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering and M.S. in Architectural Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University in 2008 and 2010.  While at Penn State, he was a student leader with the local chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and competed on the university’s varsity club sport downhill ski team. 

After graduating from Penn State, Jared moved to New York City to work for Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates, Inc.  He stayed with WJE for over six years and was promoted to Senior Associate during that time.  As a Senior Associate with WJE, Jared led project teams on the design and construction of over 20 projects annually, each with a budgets ranging from $10,000 to $5,000,000.  He led project meetings that included clients, contractors, and the design team.  Jared led internal teams ranging from two to four WJE associates on each project.  These teams were responsible for the administration of each project; duties which ranged from scheduling and budget management to proposal and contract review. 

Jared looks forward to pursuing his career ambitions starting with an MBA at Wisconsin School of Business’ Graaskamp Center for Real Estate.  He was awarded the Wisconsin Distinguished Graduate Fellowship award.  He plans to use his education from Wisconsin and his experience as an engineer to join a real estate development firm.  Ultimately, he would like to focus on suburban densification and the reuse of existing buildings.

In his free time, Jared competes in triathlons and marathons and enjoys traveling the world.
