Michael OrkeApplied Security Analysis

Michael Orke is currently a second year MS student in the Applied Security Analysis Program. As an undergraduate student, Michael was an active member in the Capital Management Club, serving as Pitch Logistics Chair during his junior year. He also took the year-long Applied Equity Market Research course, affiliated with the Hawk Center. During the fall semester of his junior year, he helped represent the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Michigan Interactive Investment Stock Pitch Competition, where his team received 2nd place. Michael also helped represent the University of Wisconsin-Madison in a research challenge hosted by the CFA institute. His team won the local competition and was a top 2% finalist at the national level.

This past summer, Michael interned as an equity analyst at Nuance Investments (Kansas City, MO) where he covered food distributors and restaurants. Two summers ago, Michael experienced another facet of the investment industry working for Northwestern Mutual Investment Management Company (Milwaukee, WI) as a high yield credit analyst. Most of Michael’s time at Northwestern Mutual was spent covering the restaurant industry. During the summer of 2017, Michael interned at WCM Investment Management (Laguna Beach, CA) as an equity analyst. 

Michael passed the CFA Level 1 in June and is sitting for level 2 next June. In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey, guitar, and reading.
