Michael OrkeApplied Security Analysis

Michael Orke is continuing his studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a first year MS student in the Applied Security Analysis Program. He will complete his BBA Degree in Finance in the spring of 2019.

As an undergraduate student, Michael held a leadership position in Capital Management Club and has been an active member in Finance and Investment Society. During the fall semester of his junior year, he helped represent the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the Michigan Interactive Investment Stock Pitch Competition, competing against respected business schools from across the nation, receiving 2nd place. Michael expanded his knowledge of fundamental equity analysis while in the Applied Equity Market Research course, a yearlong course taught by three alumni and successful investment practitioners.

The summer before his junior year, Michael interned as an equity analyst at WCM Investment Management, an institutional money manager that actively manages $30 billion. This last summer, Michael experienced another facet of the investment industry working for Northwestern Mutual Investment Management Company as a high yield credit analyst. Most of Michael’s time at Northwestern Mutual was spent covering the restaurant industry.

Michael is sitting for the CFA Level 1 in June. In his free time, he enjoys playing hockey, guitar, and reading.
