Biography
Jenna HerrRisk Management and Insurance
Jenna Herr joins the Wisconsin MBA program in Risk Management and Insurance eager to use data analytics and technology to address emerging risks. She is excited by the challenges and ever-changing environment posed by new technology, and aspires to become a relied-upon resource to business leaders in her future role. 

After completing an internship with AIG, Jenna has a deepened appreciation for the role of risk and insurance in the global economy. Working in the Financial Lines division, she reviewed financial statements to assess profitability and risk for management liability. She led a summer-long project to educate brokers and clients about Kidnap, Ransom and Extortion insurance, including solutions for active shooter and workplace violence events. 

During her time at the University of Wisconsin, Jenna has served as a graduate teaching assistant in the Risk Management and Insurance department. She is responsible for leading discussion sections and facilitating in-class exercises to support students’ learning. 

Before enrolling at the Wisconsin School of Business, Jenna worked in Community and Economic Development for the City of Waukee, Iowa, a fast-growing suburb of Des Moines. Her role involved business attraction, retention and expansion, workforce development, and small business development. She wrote grant proposals, partnered with local organizations to promote STEM education, and established the community's business retention and expansion program. While working in economic development, Jenna was inspired by changing economic trends and technological advancement in various industries.

Jenna earned bachelor’s degrees in finance and economics from the University of Iowa Tippie College of Business. She currently serves on the Tippie Young Alumni Board, mentoring and supporting first-generation college students. She serves as co-President of the Graduate Women in Business, is an active member of the Risk Management and Insurance Society (RMIS) and is a recipient of the Spencer Educational Foundation’s Anita Benedetti Memorial Scholarship.
