Biography
Brock MallekBrand and Product Management

Brock Mallek enlisted in the United States Air Force as an air traffic controller in April of 2012. After completing basic training and technical school, he arrived at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. As an air traffic controller, he perfected valuable skills such as communication, decision making, group dynamics, and critical thinking. Brock worked his way to becoming the lead trainer on his crew, while simultaneously pursuing his undergraduate degree in Technical Management. Using what he was learning in the classroom, Brock noticed a shortcoming in the way training was being conducted and was able to lead a team in creating lesson plans and a training simulation schedule. These changes ensured that every air traffic control apprentice was receiving adequate training. The success of the changes in the training program led to Brock being chosen to teach a six-week course to apprentice air traffic controllers who had just arrived from technical training. These experiences began to lay the groundwork for Brock’s desire to lead teams and solve complex problems.

In 2016, Brock relocated to the United Kingdom to accept a role as an Air Traffic Control Daily Operations Supervisor, and Standardization and Evaluations Assistant Manager. He managed a crew of 12 air traffic controllers as they ensured flight safety for two U.S. Air Force Bases. In these roles, Brock began to gain more management and leadership experience as he led his crew through daily challenges as well as coordinating with facility management on the overall operation of the crew. During this time, his interest in the business and marketing world began to grow. He was drawn to the idea of how a brand can have such an impact on a business. He plans on leveraging his experiences and leadership skills as he transitions from his military career into one that focuses on building brands and businesses.

Brock graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Technical Management. He is now eager to sharpen his leadership and management skills at the Wisconsin School of Business’ Center for Brand and Product Management as he gains a better understanding of business and marketing. In his free time, Brock enjoys working out, playing and watching sports, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family.
