James (Jim) Cope is responsible for financing income-producing properties including office, apartments, hotels, industrial and retail in the Midwest region as well as the day-to-day operations of the Capital Markets group based in Milwaukee. He has closed approximately $1.2B in transactions since 2012, and over 500 transactions throughout his career.

Prior to joining Walker & Dunlop, Mr. Cope was senior vice president of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital where he specialized in originating and structuring commercial real estate financing for all property types. Before Grandbridge, Mr. Cope was managing director with Collateral for five years. Previously, Mr. Cope was a director with L.J. Melody & Company where he helped managed a regional production office and originated and placed construction, bridge, mezzanine and permanent loans and equity for clients across the country. Earlier in his career, Mr. Cope spent 10 years with Eberhardt Company, where he was responsible for all aspects of real estate origination, placement and closing of debt and equity transactions as well as management of the office.

Mr. Cope holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and a Master of Science in real estate appraisal and investment analysis from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Mr. Cope is an active member of the Mortgage Bankers Association, the Wisconsin Real Estate Alumni Association, Young Presidents Organization, and is an affiliate member of the Commercial Association of Realtors.
