Strategic Human Resource Management Alumni
The career specialization in Strategic Human Resource Management celebrated the graduation of its inaugural class in May 2006. However, the history of the program dates back even further—to its roots in the Industrial Relations Institute of the University of Wisconsin-Madison as well as in the General Management MBA. Program alumni work in leading firms that are noteworthy for their commitment to a strategic perspective in HR.
Since our alumni community within HR is relatively small, the amount of active engagement and desire to help current students is what makes this program extra special. Many students have reported how helpful alumni have been in securing internships, providing coaching on résumés and interviewing skills, and sharing their real-world experience. As a Wisconsin MBA in Strategic Human Resources Management student, you are putting yourself in good company with successful graduates globally.
Here's the perspective of a recent alumni, now at Cisco:
"The UW alumni network is all about looking out for our alums both professionally and personally. Our alumni proactively reach out, connect with, and support one another in any way that we can, going above and beyond to make sure that Badgers feel welcome and comfortable as they join new organizations and as they continue to grow within the organization. Our alumni connect with one another both inside and outside of work, and are united by our common goal of helping one another out and of seeing UW represented positively off campus."
-Kate Christensen, Class of 2012
Alumni also actively participate in mock interviews and on-campus events. Here are three Strategic HR alumni speaking at the 2013 HR Summit: Brian Borkovec, Class of 2011, Erin Reale, Class of 2006, and Sarah Condella, Class of 2007.
