Students interested in the Wisconsin School of Business begin their academic advising partnership at Student Orientation, Advising, and Registration (SOAR) prior to beginning their coursework at the University of Wisconsin-Madison: in the summer for students beginning in fall, and in January for students beginning in spring.
At SOAR, advisors will work with students to create a course schedule for their first semester at UW-Madison. After SOAR, students will be assigned pre-business advisors who will help support them with course selection and academic difficulties, and also provide resources and referrals. Once admitted to the Wisconsin School of Business, students will be assigned a new advisor who specializes in their declared major(s). Pre-business and business advising is offered through the BBA Advising Center (3150 Grainger Hall, 975 University Ave., Madison, WI 53706; 608-262-0471; email@example.com).
Business students benefit from a unique partnership between academic and career advising. Each major is assigned both an academic and a career advisor who specializes in that particular major. This structure allows for collaborative and comprehensive advising for students.
Academic Support for the Wisconsin School of Business is facilitated through the Business Learning Center.
The Business Learning Center (BLC) provides supplemental tutorials and office hours for select business-related courses. Although BLC tutorials are open to all students, enrollment is limited and registration is required in order to attend either office hours or the group tutorials. Supplemental materials (handouts, etc.) used in BLC sessions are available to all students whether or not they are registered with the BLC and are available online.
Registration is required prior to attending a BLC tutorial.
Use your NetID to access materials and practice problems used in BLC tutorials. No registration is required in order to access online copies of material used in BLC tutorials.
If you are unable to enroll in a BLC tutorial, or if there is no BLC tutorial for the course you are taking (such as Psych 202) , you may find these other resources to be of value.
