One of the most effective way our students learn about the differing cultures and investment processes that are using in the industry is by visiting firms and talking to their analysts and/or portfolio managers. Each year over the winter semester break, we sponsor a trip for our first year students to travel with the Center Director to New York and Boston to visit a variety of firms.
In January of 2011, the Hawk Center lead a trip for our first year students that included visits to 15 firms in New York and Boston. In some cases, the trip was also a springboard to learn about the firm’s internship opportunities as well as it’s culture and process.
We also hold an alumni reception in each city during the trip, which provides a wonderful opportunity for our alumni to re-connect with each other and meet the current students. These kinds of networking opportunites are an important aspect of what the Hawk Center provides for our students.
We truly appreciate all of the alumni support that makes these trips and opportunities possible.
