As an additional prize for the G. Steven Burrill Business Plan Competition, the AARP Foundation will award $4,000 to the team who best addresses the following requirements: deals with low-income (earning less than $40,000 per annum) seniors (50+), and one or more of the following needs:
• The need for healthier food at more affordable prices
• The need for a home that better allows the occupant to affordably age-in-place
• The need for increased income
• The need to reduce the negative impact of isolation on physical, mental and emotional well-being
The AARP hopes that this award will help meet the ever-growing needs of low-income seniors. Any students working on plans that will help to improve the quality of life for an aging population is encourage to apply. The deadline to submit a written business plan is Thursday, April 12 at noon in 2296 Grainger Hall.
