Event Details: Gen Re's PRIME Insurance Competition

Monday, February 13, 2017

Join us for a fun and instructive insurance competition using Gen Re's PRIME Simulation software. Gen Re, a global reinsurance company, owns this simulation and does not usually run it at the university level. Normally the simulation is for boards of directors and chief officers of insurance companies, so this is indeed a special opportunity. We encourage ALL students studying actuarial science and/or risk management and insurance to participate.

When: Friday, March 3, 2:30-7:30 pm (dinner begins at 6:45 pm)
            & Saturday, March 4, 10:00-2:00 pm
Where: Grainger Hall, room TBA
Registration: Limited to 60 participants, deadline is Friday, February 17 (instructions below)

What is the Gen Re PRIME Insurance Competition?

You and your teammates (teams assigned at the event) are insurance company managers who in multiple rounds make business decisions that determine your company’s ultimate financial success or failure. You compete against other student teams and the company that has the best financial outcome wins the competition. (Admiration and prizes included!)

This event is an opportunity unlike any other for you to learn how to read financial statements, make pricing decisions, and run your own insurance company. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and gain experience working as a team to make critical business decisions. CCLB company representatives will be there to provide guidance for the teams and partake in meals and socializing.

How do I register?

To register, you fill out a simple information sheet and pay $10 in cash or check (made to UW Risk and Insurance). This event is completely FREE! We return the $10 to you after you complete the competition. Lunch, dinner, and fun are all included!

Register at 5252 Grainger any time. (If no one is present, use the registration instructions taped on the door). The deadline to register is Friday, February 17!

If you have questions, contact Jodi Wortsman at jodi.wortsman@wisc.edu, (608) 262-0891, or 5252 Grainger.

This event is sponsored by the UW-Madison Risk and Insurance Co-Curricular Learning Board (CCLB) companies American Family Insurance, CUNA Mutual Group, Humana, Milliman, and Swiss Re. The objective of the CCLB is to bring students opportunities to interact with business representatives and learn outside the classroom in an informal way.
