Hickman/Larson Endowed Chair in Actuarial Science
The Hickman/Larson endowment was created to recognize the defining contributions and leadership of Jim Hickman and Bob Larson, pioneers in the actuarial science field. These two special men also inspired and touched the lives of many throughout the business school and in the community. This spring we launched an effort to provide full funding for the Hickman/Larson Endowed Chair in 2011. With nearly $1 million currently in the Hickman Larson Endowed Chair fund, we are half way to our $2 million goal. We welcome gifts at any level to help us successfully complete this effort.
In this competitive educational climate, an endowed chair helps to ensure the legacy of excellence and stability of an outstanding program. It is a critical tool that allows us to recruit and retain faculty of distinction, by providing valuable resources to use for research and teaching activities.
The Actuarial Science Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is known as one of the leading programs in the nation, and has some of the most respected faculty in the profession, who are recognized for their research contributions to the profession and industry. Investments in the program are critical to helping us maintain the world-class quality of our programs, making us a national leader in actuarial education.
The popularity of this program is further evidenced in a 150% increase in student enrollments since 2000, and that we have one of the largest and most active student clubs in the Wisconsin School of Business. Our alumni and friends have every reason to feel a pride of association with such a stellar program.
Please join us in supporting the UW-Madison Actuarial Science Program through the Hickman/Larson Endowed Chair fund. Your investment commemorates the life’s work of two stellar individuals, while also ensuring the program’s excellence well into the future.
