Michael Hershberger

Lecturer - Real Estate & Urban Land Economics

Michael Hershberger is a Senior Manager at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. As the Director of Housing and Commercial Market Analysis Services for Baker Tilly, Mr. Hershberger works with a network of Baker Tilly offices to provide consulting services to clients nationwide. He has over twenty years of real estate experience which includes commercial mortgage loan underwriting and origination, consulting, housing market analysis and real estate development. Mr. Hershberger has authored in excess of 600 housing and commercial market studies throughout the United States during the past 10+ years. Mr. Hershberger is a faculty lecturer at the University of Wisconsin School of Business (Department of Real Estate and Urban Land Economics) and has also been a guest speaker at various state and community events focused on affordable housing and serves as a guest lecturer for several undergraduate and graduate real estate courses at Marquette and DePaul University. Additionally, Mr. Hershberger has personally developed various commercial, retail and housing developments and serves as president of Urban Solutions, Inc.

Mr. Hershberger was appointed to Wisconsin Governor Jim Doyle’s Taskforce for the Preservation of Affordable Housing and co-authored the final report to Governor Doyle, serves on the City of Middleton Workforce Housing Committee (as appointed by the Middleton Mayor) and serves on the T Wall Properties investment advisory board. Mr. Hershberger received a master’s degree in urban land economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison (1988), is a CPA, licensed real estate broker in Illinois and Wisconsin, is a member of International Council of Shopping Centers, and is co-chair of the National Council of Affordable Housing Market Analysts (NCAHMA).
