International trips, applied projects for international clients, and a global focus throughout the curriculum are hallmarks of all our MBA programs, whether full-time, Evening MBA or Executive MBA.

Annually, our students plan and lead a study tour overseas. Depending on your program this could happen over the Winter Break, spring or summer. These tours allow students to meet with senior business executives, government leaders, and educators in key business locations around the world.

Whether looking at international business through the lens of particular industries or understanding how general management practices translate in different cultures these trips provide essential exposure to the real world of business today.

Recent trips by MBA students have explored:

  • China-based marketing efforts
  • Ireland’s role as a hub of outsourced and off-shore operations for U.S.-based companies
  • Dubai’s growing role in trade, manufacturing, and financial services

Cultural Immersion

SachinTuli“Students are deeply engaged in their trip. The preparation on the culture and understanding of the country’s political landscape happens well before we depart. We bring in UW faculty with expertise in the country’s history, economy, legal system, and other important macro-level issues, and students receive several lectures on these topics. They discuss readings and cover the basics of language. In teams, students pick an industry or company and do research and briefings so that the conversations we have with company executives and industry experts overseas are at a higher level."
