Business Badgers Abroad Blog
My name is Carly Nelson, and I am a sophomore majoring in management and human resources, with a certificate in women and gender studies. I will be studying in Oslo, Norway, for the summer 2012 term at the BI Norwegian Business School!
Norway is a beautiful country with a rich history and, as someone with Norwegian roots, I chose to study there to learn more about the warm culture my ancestors came from. In addition, Norway offers unique geographical landscapes that I have always wanted to experience firsthand.
By studying in Norway, I hope to expand my understanding of business on an international level, become exposed to many different cultures, and gain experiences that I will be proud to share with my family and friends. While in Norway, I will be taking a course on international management. As an individual who is interested in global business, this class will help to further my future goals by teaching me how to better communicate, work with others from different backgrounds, and be independent. This class and experience will set me apart from my peers, and I know that future employers will recognize my ambition to better understand my selected career path.
I’m very excited to meet new people while abroad! Not only will I be mingling with Norwegians, there will be hundreds of other exchange students from all over the world with me at BI University. This will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to talk with people who come from completely different and unique backgrounds. While these people are all from diverse cultures, we will all be at BI for one reason, and I find that fascinating. I cannot wait to start making new memories!
