Distinguished Entrepreneurs Lunch Program: March 29 and April 5

by Lisa Collins, Associate Director, Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship Monday, March 20, 2017

The Weinert Center for Entrepreneurship offers a weekly Distinguished Entrepreneurs Lunch program where local experts on entrepreneurship tell their unique story and answer questions from students on the UW campus. The sessions occurred during the lunch hour (12:15-1:15 p.m.) in room 5110 and are held most Wednesdays during the fall and spring semesters.

Upcoming entrepreneurs and brief bios include:

Wednesday, March 29: Eric Fritz, KEVA Sports

Eric Fritz is the Founder of KEVA Sports Center. The idea for KEVA Sports Center was hatched in Eric’s youth. As the son of a small-business owner and one of three very active, athletic boys, he knew he wanted to 1) own his own business and 2) be involved in active endeavors. After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, where he played competitive soccer, Eric moved to Madison where he owned and managed Soccer World – an indoor soccer facility on Madison’s East side. After only 16 years in business, KEVA is south central Wisconsin’s best indoor recreational facility, offering state-of-the-art turf fields (both indoors and out), as well as top-quality courts for volleyball, basketball and more. The word Keva has Native American roots and is referred to as a gathering place or hut. They want this to be more than a soccer field. They want this to be a gathering place -- a community.

Wednesday, April 5: John Roach, John Roach Projects

John Roach is president and founder of John Roach Projects, an Emmy Award-winning video production company based in Madison. For 30 years, Roach has created national and international work for some of America’s most well-known brands including MillerCoors, Coca-Cola, McDonalds, Reebok and Kraft. Prior to forming his company, John was a producer at CBS and ABC in Chicago for six years. His credits include seven Chicago Emmys and a National Iris Award for Best Television Special. John, along with Mary Sweeney, co-wrote the screenplay for “The Straight Story,” a critically-acclaimed motion picture directed by David Lynch and earned an Independent Spirit Award nomination for best screenplay. John writes a monthly column in Madison Magazine, “The Final Word.”
