Our second focus area in finance that we will cover as part of our series is Corporate Finance.

In this video, you will learn more about the fundamental responsibilities and career paths housed within the Corporate Finance space. Some examples of specific roles in this industry include:

  • Financial Analyst (forecasting, projections, profit/loss models, quarter end statements)
  • Strategic Planning
  • Risk Manager
  • Investor Relations
  • Treasury
  • Corporate Credit Manager
  • Controller
  • Real Estate Analyst

  • Global Business Solutions
  • Chief Financial Officer
  • And so much more!

To set yourself up for a successful career in a corporate setting, check out opportunities to participate in an internship with a local organization or company in your sophomore year to gain more experience. As a junior, it is ideal to then participate in a Financial Analyst internship with a corporation in either a project based position or a rotational program.  You can also join the Finance & Investment Society here in the Wisconsin School of Business to start learning more about this career path and begin networking with employer contacts. Corporations look for candidates who possess the following skills:

  • Ability to manage ambiguity
  • Strategic mindset

  • Team player

  • And more
