Morgridge Center Update by Katie Coon

The Morgridge Center is UW-Madison’s center for public service.  This week’s post includes an opportunity to volunteer at the phone bank for WI Public TV and information to nominate an individual or an organization for a Morgridge Center award.

Phone Bank Volunteer at WI Public TV

You can make great programs possible at Wisconsin Public Television by volunteering at our spring membership drive. Join us in our studios in Vilas Hall on the UW-Madison campus March 3-18 by taking phone pledges from TV viewers. This is a great opportunity to volunteer with a group of friends or a student organization.

Your gift of time makes a difference at WPT. During a single shift, an individual phone bank volunteer can raise anywhere from $500 to $2,000! These important fund raising dollars make it possible to present educational, informative, and inspiring programs to viewers across the state.

Shifts are approximately four hours and include snacks, beverages and a free meal donated by a local restaurant. If interested, contact Ericka Balgord, Volunteer Manager at (608) 265-4436, or learn more at http://wpt.org/volunteer/.

Morgridge Center Awards

Do you know a volunteer, student organization, or community nonprofit that deserves to be recognized for their commitment to the community?  Recognize outstanding individuals and organizations that are advancing the Wisconsin Idea and serving the community by nominating them for a Morgridge Center award.

The Morgridge Center for Public Service launched awards for students and community organizations in 2007. These awards were created to recognize the long history of engagement by students and community organizations to advance the Wisconsin Idea and make a difference in the community. The Morgridge Center annually gives away four awards, honoring those who are dedicated to giving back to the community.
