Freeman Awards for Study in Asia (Freeman-ASIA) provides scholarships for U.S. undergraduate students to study abroad in East or Southeast Asia. The program's goal is to increase the number of Americans with first-hand exposure to and understanding of Asia and its peoples and cultures. Applicants should have a minimum of 2.8 GPA.
Awards of up to $3000 are available for summer programs and up to $5000 for semester programs.
The deadline for summer scholarships is February 15, 2012. The application for fall 2012 scholarships will open on February 22, 2012.
Please note that the deadline for the business school’s sponsored summer program in China is March 1 (after the Freeman-ASIA deadline). It is fine to apply for the Freeman-ASIA award before receiving formal acceptance to a study abroad program.
