Interested in a career in fashion? Check out Fashion Draft NYC! by Kelly Cuene

Students: Apply for the inaugural Fashion Draft NYC – an exciting new program to attract top business-minded students to NYC’s fashion firms.  An initiative of the New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) and Parsons The New School for Design, Fashion Draft NYC will select 25-30 graduating college seniors from around the world and bring them to New York City, all expenses paid, to interview for management-track positions with some of the City’s top fashion firms.

There is a wealth of challenging business-oriented careers in fashion.  This program is targeted to outstanding graduating seniors who have an interest in pursuing business careers (e.g., management/strategy consulting, finance/investment banking).

The inaugural installment of Fashion Draft NYC will take place from Feb. 16-18th, 2012. In addition to the interviews (for roles such as buying and marketing), students will have the opportunity to learn more about the business side of the industry through behind-the-scenes company tours, networking with fashion industry executives, and keynote addresses.

All program details, including qualifications, application deadline, and an application form can be found at http://fashiondraftnyc.com. Applications must be received by Nov. 14th. View the program flyer for more details.

Fashion Draft NYC is a unique opportunity to connect top business-minded talent from around the globe with New York City fashion firms like Alice + Olivia, Ann Inc., Armani Exchange, Bloomingdale’s, Club Monaco, Gilt, LF USA, Macy’s, Ralph Lauren, and Theory.

Fashion Draft NYC is one of six fashion industry-focused initiatives announced in November 2010 by NYC Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg as part of NYC’s push to help build on its competitive advantages and enhance its status as a global fashion capital. Fashion Draft NYC is the second of the initiatives to launch; the first was Fashion Campus NYC, also a joint venture between NYCEDC and Parsons, which took place this summer.
