Name: Hans Ahlstrom
Hometown: New Berlin, WI
Year in school: Junior
Major International Business, Spanish
Hello! My name is Hans and I am currently a junior at UW-Madison majoring in International Business and Spanish. In my free time I am an active member of the Student Retail Association, and love working out at the SERF or snowboarding with Hoofers Ski and Snowboard Club. I plan to spend this summer here in Madison, where I will be working and taking classes….maybe learning to sail if time permits.
I am incredibly excited to create content for myBiz, and hope you find our continually evolving platform useful. Make sure to watch for new and exciting features on myBiz in the near future, and feel free to comment on posts with questions, personal insights, etc. Should you ever have new ideas or ways to make myBiz more useful and informative, don’t hesitate to let me know. Facebook, Twitter, E-mail, or comment on myBiz. We’d love to hear from you!
Name: Belle Lin
Year in school: Freshman
Major: Marketing and Management and Human Resources
Hobbies: Meeting new people, reading good books, writing, playing tennis, and window shopping
Hi! My name is Belle Lin and I’m a freshman pre-business student. I’m from Shoreview, MN and plan on majoring in marketing and management and human resources. I love getting to know as people as possible and look forward to sharing my insights and working with myBiz. I hope to convey my experiences so far while continuing to learn and grow as a business student.
One tip I’d like to share about myBiz is: bookmark it! Even with weekly digest emails, it’s easy to forget that myBiz is updated daily. There are always new events and opportunities constantly being posted- don’t neglect myBiz and miss something you really wanted to get involved in.
Look for new features on myBiz in the future; possibly a myBiz page on Facebook or Twitter- some way of connecting myBiz with social media. I would also look for a frequently asked questions feature or sidebar and a larger, more interactive calendar of undergraduate business events. I envision myBiz as a one-stop place for all undergraduate students, a place where events, activities, and resources are available at the click of a button.
Name: Carly Miller
Year in school: Sophomore
Majors: Marketing, Management & Human Resources
Hello! My name is Carly and I am finishing my sophomore year here at the UW. I am majoring in Marketing and Management & Human Resources. I work in the Business Career Center and am involved in Phi Beta Lambda, the Underclassmen Outreach Committee (we organize Ignite the Potential), and am a student representative on the Undergraduate Program New Business Student Orientation Committee. I also eat half of my meals in the Capitol Café and study in Grainger Library. Basically, I live in Grainger.
As you can see from my Grainger habitation, I love the Wisconsin School of Business and am very excited to be a part of the Communications Group and add to myBiz. In the coming semester, look for some exciting tweaks to myBiz as students add their input. I suggest setting myBiz as a preset on your web browser, so you remember to check it throughout the week for the latest Business School updates and to make sure you don’t miss out on any of the fun.
Let’s start this exciting, new era with more comments on myBiz. (That means you. Comment on this post!) This blog can be a great forum for sharing ideas, questions, and opinions, so speak up Grainger!
Name: Zack Zaban
Year in school: Junior
Major: Journalism and Mass Communication (Reporting and Strategic Communication tracks); Certificate in Business
My name is Zack and I’m one the four students helping out with myBiz content for the next year. Since you’re going to see my name/writing/face for the next 12 months, I’ll share a little bit about myself and, along the way, you can become comfortable with my wacky yet professional life.
I’m a student in two different schools: my major comes from the School of Journalism and Mass Communication and a Certificate in Business from the Wisconsin School of Business. If you walk outside on any given day, you’ll probably see me running franticly between Vilas and Grainger with a cup of coffee in my hand. I would like to work in media planning (strategizing where advertisements should be placed) or creative (making the art and copy for an advertisement) at a large advertising firm post graduation.
During the next year, I plan on writing myBiz articles that will enrich the lives of other B School students. Personally, I want to help seniors as they begin to transition from college life to the “real world” while, at the same time, providing insight for freshmen who are freaking out about managing their newfound freedom at UW-Madison. Additionally, I wish to help students learn about certain myBus features, such as RSS Feeds, to make their lives easier and more efficient.
