You may be recovering from a Thanksgiving feast or focused on fall semester's final exams, but don't forget to plan ahead for spring campus recruiting! Mark your calendar for the following events, programs and opportunities so you hit the ground running once you're back on campus in January!
1. Spring Career and Internship Fair: January 25, 4:30PM-8:00PM
Don't let the name fool you - the spring semester career fair is being held during the height of winter on Tuesday, January 25! Mark your calendars for 4:30PM-8:00PM on 1/25/11 in the Kohl Center, where employers will be ready to discuss full-time and internship opportunities!
2. On-campus interview applications begin in January
Since the Spring Career and Internship Fair is being held on January 25, many companies will be posting positions during winter break. Be sure to review the job and internship postings during your time away from campus. Many employers will have resume drop deadlines before spring semester classes begin - don't get caught off guard! Mark your calendars now so you remember to review the job/internship postings in January.
3. Employer mock interviews
Employers will be visiting campus January 18-28, 2011 to conduct practice interviews with students who want to enhance their interviewing skills. Sign-up for these begins on January 3. Be sure to check BuckyNet during winter break to view the mock interview schedules as they are added and sign-up for a mock interview. The best way to get better at interviewing is to practice, practice, practice so be sure to take advantage of these opportunities to get feedback from actual employers! Search for "mock" in the Jobs section of BuckyNet.
4. Get that resume ready!
The Business Career Center will have extended drop-in advising available from January 18-24 to help students prepare for the career fair and get their resumes ready. Stop in the BCC anytime between 10:00AM-5:00PM, January 18-24 to see one of the advisors on duty for a quick, 10 minute appointment regarding career fair prep or a resume review.
