Morgridge Center Update by Katie Coon

Check this post each week for great ways to get involved with your school and community.   NEW:  Each week we will feature a volunteer opportunity targeted towards business students in the "Consider This" section.  This week's opportunities:  marketing and public relations volunteer opportunity and a chance to get involved with Habitat for Humanity.

Marketing and Public Relations Opportunity for Ice Age Trail Alliance

Interested in Marketing and Public Relations? The Ice Age Trail Alliance is looking for individuals to contact media outlets and provide them with enticing and appropriate information on Ice Age Trail events.

Current ongoing opportunities to raise awareness are the Dane County Farmers' Market (April-October), Garden Expo (February), and Canoecopia (March) info tables. Volunteers will also update and maintain on-line calendars and social network sites, such as Facebook, with fresh photos and adventure stories.

Consider This: Habitat for Humanity

The Habitat for Humanity of Dane County Homeownership Mentor works one-on-one to provide support, guidance, and advocacy for families as they build their home. The transition from renting to home ownership can be intimidating.

Homeownership Mentors should expect to commit about five hours a month to mentor their Habitat family during the six-month building process and the year after the build. A willingness to work in an educational and non-judgmental manner is a plus.
