ISS, LGBT CC, MSC, and International Programs are looking for US and international students to serve on a panel and assist with an exciting event on April 12, 5:30-7:30, On Wisconsin Room, Red Gym (Panel 5:30-6:30, Social/Resources 6:30-7:30). We are seeking students with diverse backgrounds to share your experiences living, studying, or working abroad.
Our personal backgrounds often impact and inform our international experiences, whether we identify as LGBT, a person of color, a person of faith, etc. Our multiple identities can enhance our international experiences in positive ways or pose challenges or learning opportunities as we interface with our host cultures. Often students have questions, concerns, or interest in how their background might impact their experience if they choose to go abroad. This event is designed to share the wisdom and experiences you have had abroad, to discuss and reflect on the influence identities can or may have on a student's international experiences, and to allow globally-minded students to connect and share resources about living abroad.
If interested in being a panel member, please contact Tina Hatch, ISS advisor, at hatch@studentlife.wisc.edu with the following information:
1. Name and academic standing
2. Please include a brief paragraph sharing your international experience
3. Any demographic information you feel is important
To ensure a diverse panel of international and US students, we will select from interested students and let you know if you have been selected for the panel by March 2. If we are unable to host everyone on the panel, we hope you will consider helping with the event in other ways.
If you are not interested in being on the panel, but would like to serve as a resource that night to talk to students one-on-one, to share your contact information with students wanting more information, or help in any other way, please let us know!
And for those who might be interested in attending, please save the date!
