Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) fellowships are funded by the US Department of Education to encourage area and international studies and to stimulate foreign language fluency.
These awards are a great way to fund an international experience. Typically, they cannot be used to offset a business abroad program. But, if you are looking for an international experience this summer, a FLAS can fund a rigorous, proficiency-based program that offers at least 140 hours of language instruction over at least six weeks.
If you're interested in learning more about this great opportunity, attend one of the FLAS information sessions being held for undergraduate students:
Wednesday, December 1, 2010 - 2:00 to 3:00 PM
260 Bascom Hall
Thursday, January 20, 2011 - 2:00 to 3:00 PM
336 Ingraham Hall
