For the greatest exposure on campus, it is important to use a variety of approaches in connecting with students. Student organizations can provide an array of opportunities for employers to become involved with their membership.
Sophomore Shadow Program
Through the BBA Program’s Sophomore Shadow Program, companies have the opportunity to give newly admitted sophomores in the Wisconsin School of Business and School of Human Ecology an up-close look at a company or industry by “shadowing” professionals through a normal day on the job. Students explore different career possibilities and see firsthand how classroom skills relate to the workplace. Employers get to make a positive impact on the lives of students!
Making connections with faculty in the departments that house the majors of interest to you will increase your exposure to a targeted population of students. Some faculty may be willing to work with you in providing opportunities for you to share your expertise in the classroom. The employer classroom visits typically need to be set up far in advance of your arrival. Employer representatives must have the ability to add “real” world experience that will enhance the curriculum.
Workshops & Mock Interviews
Enhance your presence on campus by assisting students in mock interviews or by participating in the Business Basics Seminar Series. Each semester the BBA Advising Center organizes opportunities for undergraduate and prospective business, IMAcc, GMAcc, Master of Science, and Certificate in Business students to experience behavioral-based and case mock interviews. Employers make this program successful!
Building an internship program with students can increase your exposure on campus throughout the academic year! Following their internship, the students return to campus and can serve as your ambassadors. Student ambassadors are able to reach out to other students and student organizations in a way that is not easily accessible to you. The student ambassador can become your organization’s eyes and ears, which will provide you with an ongoing pulse of campus!
