Sandra Simpson Chiles is senior vice president and general manager, Affiliate Sales, for Home Box Office, responsible for overseeing all HBO sales and marketing efforts for Cox Communications, Charter Communications, and in 2006, SuddenLink. She was named to this position in May 1999.
Chiles joined HBO as an account executive in June 1982. She was promoted to regional manager in 1985 and a year later became regional director. Based in Dallas, she was responsible for the marketing of HBO and Cinemax within the Dallas, New Orleans and Oklahoma City areas. In September 1993, she was named vice president, Affiliate Operations, and in January 1999 became general manager.
Before joining HBO, Chiles worked at General Mills in Minnesota as an assistant brand manager on the Trix and Lucky Charms accounts. She also served as an assistant accountant at Peat Marwick & Mitchell in Los Angeles.
Chiles is a recipient of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management Fellowship and the National Association of Minorities in Cable (NAMIC) Executive Award. She is a member of Women In Cable & Television (WICT), the National Association Minorities in Cable (NAMIC), Delta Sigma Theta, Inc. Sorority, Jack & Jill of America, Inc. and the Association of Marketing and Advertising Professionals (AMA).
Chiles holds a BS in Accounting from Southern University in Baton Rouge and an MBA in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
